Rosegarth Square Transformation Takes Shape

Our work at Rosegarth Square is progressing at pace, with the regeneration scheme now clearly taking shape.

Our team is currently on site installing our latest public feature, The Wave. This striking structure is set to become a focal point within the development, bringing both visual impact and a sense of movement to the space. The photos shared below offer a preview of how the installation will look once complete.

The project began with the sourcing of 264 metres of high-grade stainless-steel tubing. From there, the design was carefully refined into a series of simple curves and straight sections. This approach not only achieved the desired aesthetic but also helped to reduce material waste and support a more sustainable fabrication process.

Preparation played a key role in maintaining quality throughout. Each tube was polished before shaping began, allowing for a cleaner and more efficient final finish. Selected sections were also joined early in the process to enable the formation of the larger curves required for the design.

Shaping the steel demanded both precision and control. The tubing was heated to extremely high temperatures before being guided through a forming machine. This allowed each piece to be bent and rotated accurately into position. Rapid cooling followed, strengthening the material and reducing the risk of internal stress.

Every bend was labelled and tracked throughout production. Custom built frames were used to hold the tubes securely during fabrication, ensuring consistency across each section. Once formed, the pieces were cut to size, prepared, and welded in multiple layers to deliver long term strength. All welds were then carefully smoothed and polished to achieve a clean and uniform finish.

Due to their size, the completed lengths were divided into halves for transport. Four flatbed lorries delivered them to site, where they were secured into concrete bases, rejoined, welded, and polished once again. Installation is now nearing completion, with compact cranes lifting each section into place. Final welds are being completed, followed by a last stage polish to bring The Wave to life.
