The Wave sculpture was created by m-tec in a joint project between Blackpool Borough Council and sculptor Lucy Glendinning. The sculpture, located in St Johns Square, Blackpool, weighing 17 tonnes and standing 10.3m tall.
The Waves’ complex shape was a challenge for the fabrication team at m-tec. It is made from stainless steel and curved to represent a wave breaking. The studded resin inserts in the design are internally lit by colour-changing LEDs, to give the structure a constantly changing appearance.
